Marlin Construction Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our growing team in Freehold, New Jersey.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for a skilled operator with experience in heavy civil construction, site development, excavation, grading, and underground utility work.
The ideal candidate is a dependable, safety-conscious professional who can operate multiple types of heavy construction equipment efficiently while working alongside field crews to complete projects safely and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy construction equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, skid steers, and other earthmoving machinery.
- Perform excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, and site preparation activities.
- Support underground utility installation, including storm drainage, sanitary sewer, and water infrastructure.
- Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and construction specifications.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and routine preventative maintenance.
- Identify and report mechanical issues or equipment deficiencies.
- Work closely with Superintendents, Foremen, and other field personnel to maintain project schedules.
- Follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and established operating procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Assist with general construction activities when necessary.
Required:
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment in civil construction, excavation, or site development.
- Proficiency operating excavators, loaders, bulldozers, or similar construction equipment.
- Working knowledge of excavation, grading, and earthmoving operations.
- Ability to work safely around underground utilities and active construction sites.
- Ability to follow directions, work independently, and collaborate with field crews.
- Reliable transportation and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Preferred:
- Experience with underground utility installation and trench excavation.
- Experience operating multiple types of heavy construction equipment.
- Familiarity with GPS-guided grading equipment.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience working on commercial, municipal, or industrial site development projects.
